For the second year running we are delighted that The Seahorse has had its success endorsed by being voted in the top 100 UK restaurants, at number 83,  in the esteemed National Restaurant awards. The scheme is designed to award the crème de la crème of the restaurant world and the top 100 is unsurprisingly a fiercely sought after place to be in a London dominated industry.  The winners were announced last night at a prestigious awards ceremony in London's Connaught Rooms.  Well done to our team and big thanks to all our fabulous customers. 

For the second year running the staff at the Seahorse have collected tips during a peak week in the restaurant and donated them to the charity they are keen to support, the Fishermen's Mission.  £1,000 was raised this year to the delight of Mission fundraising person Gina Moore.  The Seahorse have supported the Missiion and the Seafarer's Organisation since opening in 2008 making an effort to try and make a difference to a very important charity.  

Mitch said, From my  time living in Brixham I have realised what the Mission means to the community and the fishing industry, it's part of the soul of the town as I am sure it is for many other fishing ports. As a charity you can directly see the benefit it brings and I know there is a lot of work done on supporting fishermen and their families through tough times that we don't see, it's a wonderful charity and all of us at the Seahorse are proud to lend our support.

We are delighted to let our guests know that we have a unique courtesy ferry service for guests at the Seahorse and RockFish from 11.10pm until midnight on Friday & Saturday nights. Just show your restaurant reciept to get on board.

Our own launch, Pearlfisher, will be back out on the water for use by our guests in July and August for the use of our guests.  It will run 5 days a week and will be available for private hire.

We ahd a fantastic evening during the The Dartmouth Festival. Friday night saw Tom Parker Bowles and Valentine Warner cooking up a feast for a packed Seahorse restaurant. See what went on here

We are big fans of Lys & Gilles at gallery Studio Dix Neuf in Dartmouth & we have several of their pieces at the Seahorse so we're very pleased to be hosting an evening on Monday 18th October at the Seahorse.  You'll be able to see some their key works all during festival week here too.  The event on 18th is from 7 to 9pm and is invitation only, it promises to be a fantastic evening.  If you would like to attend please contact Lys at studiodixneuf@btconnect.com

Dartmouth Food Festival starts next week on Wednesday 20th October.  Join us at The Seahorse or RockFish Seafood & Chips for a wonderful foodie experience.  Mitch and Henry Dimbleby will be opening the festival at the demo kitchen on the South Embankment at 3.30pm on Wednesday, come and join us.

We have a few tables left at the Seahorse for the festival but the Mark Hix, Valentine Warner and Tom Parker Bowles dates are now fully booked.

THE FESTIVAL FOR FOODIES

For a week in October everybody interested in food will be in Dartmouth for the best food festival in the country. We will have guest chefs hosting alongside Mitch Tonks, including  Mark Hix, Valentine Warner, Henry Dimbleby, Josceline Dimbleby and Diana Henry and of course there will be demos and events all over Dartmouth.  For more information on the food festival visit the official website.

The highlight of the yachting calendar is heading our way at the end of August when the Dartmouth Regatta hits town from 26th to 30th.  We'll be opening as usual and also open for lunch and dinner on Sunday.  We hope you can join us.

The Seahorse & Mitch Tonks hosted the launch of the South Devon crab campaign.  Mitch, along with Visit South Devon, is championing this great British food.  Amazing crab is landed by fishermen along the South Devon coast, much of which goes to export.  If you are visiting South Devon do make sure to try this wonderful food which regularly features on our menu, or pop along to RockFish Seafood & Chips for a great crab sandwich.
