It's very difficult to write a review about such an exemplary restaurant without it sounding over-the-top, or way too effusive, but every once in a while you just have to run with it and wear your heart on your sleeve. I LOVE the Seahorse!

A couple of months ago it was my birthday (a big one). As a treat to myself I decided to have a quiet lunch on my own, prior to all the set-piece family orientated 'candle blowing' activities. Selfish, I know, but having long sought an excuse to try out the Seahorse I arrived on a grey autumn day, laden down with shop-bought birthday treats, walked through the door and the magic began. There is just something about this place. It started with the service - Sarah-Jane and Mel providing that incredibly illusive perfect mix of informal friendliness and flawless professionalism. And then the food, OH THE FOOD! Its apparent simplicity, exceptional flavours, and balanced palate all serve to underline just how skilled is the execution of the Seahorse kitchen brigade.

I was there for, what, a little over an hour? Quite simply one of the best 60 minutes I have ever spent in a restaurant, anywhere.

As a result, my Birthday was memorable not because of the big '0' now attached to my age for the next 12 months, but instead because of the utterly wonderful time I spent at the Seahorse!

What an absolutely fantastic meal. We have never experienced so many gorgeous flavours executed in such a subtle way. We have eaten in many restaurants but this has to be the best. Mitch and his staff made the whole dining experience much more pleasurable too, top marks!
Lets just hope I can emulate it this weekend when I try some of his recipes from the book I purchased!!

What can I say about our visit (29-07-11).I had to convince both my friends that this was the place to eat in Dartmouth and with both of them being fish sceptical it was a large task - I needn't have worried, from the second we walked through the door I knew we going to enjoy our meal.

the atmosphere is great, the restaurant is well decorated and superbly furnished, making for a very relaxing evening. The restaurant was filled with people just enjoying the food, which in my opinion is the way all good restaurants should be.

Between the three we managed to order, after some frantic explaining to my friends both by myself and the more than capable staff of what fish tasted like what.

We couldn't fault the meal and the comments from my friends afterwards were that we could have swapped all our food around because there wasn't any of the three courses that they wouldn't have eaten.

Can't praise the whole experience enough and will definitely be booking again when We are back down next summer.

Best meal i have ever tasted . The food was out of this world and the wine was amazing .The service was faultless . The icing on the cake was the monk fish ,so easy to get wrong but cooked to perfection. Thank you to you all at the seahorse. From all at jamies italians
